After six years of knowing M, I finally went to her house. We went grocery shopping after she picked me up. We decide, or she did, that we would have grilled salmon, lettuce and strawberries with balsamic vinegar and rosemary potatoes. I was pretty excited to be cooking with her…for many reason that if I explain you would be bored of me and not continue on with reading the rest of this post.
We went to Loblaws to pick up groceries; boston lettuce, Szechwan sauce (below), baby potatoes, salmon, pomegranate juice, sparkling water and strawberries (along with other items that M needed).
Lunch was pretty simple to prepare. M smeared the Asian sauce on the piece of salmon and put it on the barbeque to cook.
While she did that, I sliced the strawberries into somewhat even pieces and washed the lettuce. M finished making the salad, mixing the sliced strawberries and lettuce, topping it off with balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
This was pretty neat. It’s basically an enclosed net that you place your food in to prevent from the outdoor bugs.
I always learn something from M. She boiled the potatoes on the stove top with fresh rosemary from her garden. When the potatoes were tender, she finished cooking them on the barbeque, just to get that charred flavour.
And for drinks, we basically had pomegranate juice with sparkling water. M might think I’m a big eater, but I finished the salad and potatoes. :9
Part 2 will be posted in the new few days. Keep an eye out!
