Meatballs with Sorted Food

IMG_6476

My ingredients for making Sorted Food‘s meatballs. It’s tough work when your the only person in the kitchen  but also relaxing because I don’t like it when people bother me in the kitchen when I’m busy making food. I realized that the full recipe makes 6 servings but I was only making dinner for three.

So I cut back on the recipe. Ground beef, parsley, onion, garlic, egg, cumin and chilli flakes (the recipe calls for whole chillies).

Before: throw al the ingredients together and mix.

After, no raw hands needed!

About 800 grams of beef made 22 average meatballs.

Frying meatballs can be tricky as they tend to fall apart, but I found out that the egg DOES help combine the mixture (it was my first time making meatballs with egg).

Boiled some pasta for dinner, to go along with the meatballs and the tomato sauce.

TADA! Finished product and  vegetables to top dinner off (peas and steamed carrots). Plus I made a quick tomato sauce by using two cans of tomatoes and blending in into a sauce, I also added some tomato paste to thicken the sauce.

Ingredients:
1 large onion
4 cloves of garlic
2 large red chillies
mince beef (~1.5kg)
2 eggs
tablespoon ground coriander
tablespoon ground cumin
handful of fresh chopped parsley
tablespoon salt
vegetable or olive oil

Method*:
Chop the onion, garlic and chillies as finely as possible.
Dump into a big bowl with the minced beef.
Crack in the eggs and sprinkle over the spices, chopped parsley and salt.
Mix together with your hands- get stuck in.
Roll into small balls and fry in hot oiled pan until brown on all sides.

*The original recipe also makes tomato sauce (for the meatballs), but the above method only states the steps for making the meatballs.
